Optigro - Paclobutrazol 23% SC (PGR)
Optigro is a specialized plant growth regulator (PGR) designed to control excessive vegetative growth and enhance crop yield. By inhibiting gibberellin hormone production, Optigro restricts excessive plant height, leading to shorter, stronger plants that are better suited for efficient energy use. Instead of supporting unnecessary vertical growth, Optigro helps direct the plant’s energy toward fruit and seed development, improving the quality and quantity of the yield. It is particularly useful in preventing uncontrolled growth and enhancing plant stability, which leads to better use of water and nutrients.
MODE OF ACTION
Optigro works by blocking the synthesis of gibberellins, a group of plant hormones responsible for promoting cell elongation and stem growth. By inhibiting gibberellin production, it limits vertical growth, making the plants shorter and sturdier. This allows the plant to allocate more energy and nutrients to reproductive processes like fruit and seed development, rather than just vegetative growth. As a result, plants become more stable, efficient in resource usage, and capable of producing higher yields with improved quality.

- It is a very effective weedicide for control of narrow leaf weeds in broad leaf crops.
- It does not burn the weeds but kills the weeds - so they do not regerminate.
- These dead weeds turn into organic manure to boost plant health and vigour.
- Targa Super is strictly not recommended on paddy, wheat, sorghum, maize, barley, pearl millet, sugarcane crop.
- Targa Super is recommended at 500-600 ml for control of perennial weeds like Kans and Doob.
